A Comparative Approach to Inequality and Development: Latin America and Europe

The aim of the Mini-Conference is to promote a comparative analysis of inequality in Latin America and Europe, in order to explain whether inequality really has been a distinctive aspect of Latin American development for centuries, what form that inequality has taken, and whether it has been an important factor explaining its relative backwardness. Comparisons between European and Latin American experience since pre-industrial times will enrich our understanding of both.
