This course will be a survey of various economic issues related to the European Union (EU). Among the goals is to acquaint you with important issues in the economics of integration as well as many of the practical problems faced by countries as they attempt to integrate in the face of very diverse cultures and extremely complicated economic systems. We will also consider historical and institutional aspects of these countries as well as highlighting the differences between the NAFTA and the EU.

This course is about using economic principles to analyze the EU issues.

I encourage you to ask questions and get involved. On occasion, I may give readings to be used for in-class discussions/writing assignments. Readings will primarily include articles and documents from the European Commission and other news sources. Periodically you must send by Email the exercises of the practical lessons to the TA and also and a personal outline of the text book chapter of the lesson that the professor is currently explaining at the class room.
